  Chapter 1

  Natalie

“Girl, come on. It’ll be fun!” Melly chirped. We were going to celebrate that we have finally graduated from college. Melly and I had worked our asses off studying criminal law, and we made it. So, of course, she wanted to go clubbing. At a gay club. I’m not a boring person, and I sure as hell don’t mind gay people. I actually love how cute and open they act with their loved ones.

“Melly, we have to show up for work.” I knew what she was going to say but can’t blame a girl for trying.

“Nat, it’s Saturday. We don’t have to show up until Monday. Come on; we have to go.” Melly whined, pouting and giving me the puppy dog eyes. I snorted. Really? I rolled my eyes at her and sighed.

“Fine. We’ll go, but when I say it’s time, we should go home,” I said, a little bit annoyed.

“Yay!” Melly happily said, pumping her fist into the air in victory. How did she make it through college?

“Um, is Jasper still visiting his family?” Melly suddenly asked.

I sighed loudly and just nodded at her.

Jasper was my high school boyfriend. We went to the same college, and he graduated the same time as me, only that he was a computer wizard. He was my smart nerd.

I was an average student. I belong in the not very popular and not an outcast student category. Of course, my party life decreased when Jasper and I went steady. We never talked about commitment, and I wasn’t sure we ever would. We’d been drifting apart since we hardly saw each other, even though we lived together. Of course, we both had our own bedrooms.

I put on a black mini strapless dress, matching it with a pair of black pumps. I wore a pink lip gloss on my lips, put on a little mascara on my lashes, did my eyebrows, and applied a silver eyeshadow on my creases. Lastly, I set my straight long black hair loose.

  ***

  We walked into Studio 69.

All the girls eyed us, and the guys glared at us; a few, whom I figured were bisexuals, liked the view.

I ignored them and ordered myself a Bud Light, while Melly got herself Sex on the Beach. I can actually handle any liquor, but now, I just settled for beer.

We waited patiently for the strippers. Well, I was patient, but Melly, on the other hand, kept complaining.

I rolled my eyes as I took a sip of my beer.

My cellphone went off, and I saw Jasper’s name flashing on the screen. I told Melly I was going to take it outside so I can hear better.

“Hey, Jazz, everything okay? When are you coming back?” I asked him, and I heard a sigh coming from the other line.

“Nat, where are you?” Jasper asked me, ignoring my questions.

“Oh, at a gay club. Melly wanted to celebrate our graduation.” I chuckled as I said this aloud, which sounded ridiculous.

“In a gay bar?” I frowned at his tone. It was as if something was bothering him.

“I know, but you know Melly…So, are you on your way?” I asked him again.

“I’m at our apartment,” he mumbled.

“Oh. I’ll come home. Let me just tell Melly.”

“Don’t, Nat. I’m packing. I’m moving out. This…Us…We need a break. I don’t think our relationship is moving forward, and we might need to move on. I feel like I need more time, and I think you know it too. I’m sorry, but let’s just stay…” He was going to say that dreadful word.

“What? Friends? Don’t you dare finish that. We’ve been together this long, and you’re just going to give up easily? Without so much as having the courtesy of telling me that to my face? Damn you, Jasper. Just move out and go away!” I yelled through the phone.

“Nat, I’m so—” I cut him off.

“Sorry. You know what? The fact that you’re packing when I’m out of there shows how much of an asshole you are. And which is it? You need a break, or you need to break up? And you deserve more? Really? More time for what? What kind of man are you? So, Jasper, let me make this easy for you: it’s over between us. Oh, one last thing. Go fuck yourself,” I said angrily before ending the call.

I breathed deeply and took a few seconds to compose myself before I went back inside. I wasn’t mad that he broke it off. I was fucking pissed at how he did it. Fucking loser.

I went back to my table and sat down, gulping my remaining beer in one go.

Then I ordered tequila, shot after another shot.

By the time the gay strippers came out, I was already tipsy but still pissed.

I faced the cop dancer, and he looked at me as if I was eye candy. He came to me and danced in front of me.

I couldn’t help but touch his abs that were as hard as a rock.

I slid my hand down to his waist. I opened my purse with my other hand and took a couple of hundred bills, sticking them in between my lips. Using both of my hands, I pulled open the garter of his thong, and I leaned down and put my face in his crotch, sliding the money inside.

His shaft was huge and very hard, which was weird since he’s gay. He’s gay, right?

The stripper had a smile on his face. He lifted me and kissed me right on my lips.

  I felt sparks. Fireworks.

  Jasper who?

Then I realized this dude was gay, and no matter how pissed I was, I needed to stop this.

I wasn’t and wouldn’t be a slut. So, I softly pushed him away, turned around, and started clapping. I could feel my face burning from either the alcohol or embarrassment.

  Melly looked at me p
uzzled, but I just shook my head at her and gave her a look that said to leave it alone.

I didn’t want to talk about it. I was hurting but for different reasons. Sure, Jasper and I could’ve stayed friends, but the stupid coward had to try to move out while I wasn’t there. What? He thought I would plead and grovel for him not to leave me?

I could handle breakups, just not cowards.

My mind went off to the stripper. I acted out of character, and I felt more hatred towards Jasper for making me act up. I sighed silently and looked around the club, wondering how pretty much everyone, including Melly, had probably had sex. And here I was, still a virgin. But it wasn’t like there was a reason for that. I was just busy with school. I had always wanted to be a lawyer. My dad was one, and my mom was a teacher. So, I was always with my head in a book; college parties weren’t a big thing for me—neither pledging to sororities.

A waiter brought drinks to our table, snapping me out of my thoughts. I stared at the drinks that we didn’t order ourselves. I lifted one eyebrow and said, “Excuse me, but we didn’t order those.”

“I know. That dangerous and sexy cop sent them to you. Enjoy, ladies,” the waiter responded and walked away.

Melly drank her Sex on the Beach while I was eyeing the new drinks on our table. Then I heard a sexy voice behind me that made me shiver. I think I had an orgasm just by hearing that. I turned to look at the owner of that voice, and it was the sexy cop. He was saying something, but I was too entranced by his appearance. “What?” I asked in a daze.

He chuckled and repeated himself. “I said I didn’t drug your beer. So, you can drink it,” he said as he pointed to the beer bottle in front of me.

“Um, thanks.” I took a sip of it then turned around, hoping he would go away. Unfortunately, he invited himself by taking an empty chair between Melly and me.

“So, ladies…My name is Frankie, and yours are?” he asked with that sexy voice; it was doing things to me that I couldn’t explain.

I beat Melly. “I’m Elizabeth, and this is Diana,” I replied. “And not to be rude, but don’t you have fans?” I looked around and spotted many people glaring at us.

He laughed. “Yeah. I just wanted to ask if you were okay. I kind of heard your phone conversation earlier,” he drawled, and I widened my eyes.

My god, he heard me. I was beyond pissed now.

“Diana, we are leaving. Thanks for worrying, Frankie, but I already got a friend here who I can confide in. So, just go back to your life and don’t worry about me,” I said, feeling pathetic.

I grabbed Melly’s arm and stormed off, filling her in about the conversation I had with Jasper earlier.

“He left you?” I could barely hear Melly ask. I nodded as we continued to walk towards the exit.

“He broke up with you on the phone? What a fucking coward,” Melly said.

I sadly smiled at her. “Jasper probably waited until we left the apartment so that he can pack his stuff, then I presumed that he called me when he was finishing loading his shit,” I explained to her.

“He’s an idiot, and I want to kick his ass. He should feel lucky to even be with you!” Melly exclaimed.

“I’m not mad that he broke up with me; it’s been over for a while now. I’m just pissed at how he did it. I mean, we were together for seven years. I deserved more than just a phone call breakup. But what’s done is done. I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my life,” I said while smiling, trying to be positive in this situation. I thought about D’Angelo and Partners law firm that had offered both Melly and me a job as paralegals. We both knew it wasn’t going to be easy to become partners as soon as we graduated no matter how good our grades were. But we were going to start from the bottom and work our way up.

  Chapter 2

  Isaac

Ugh. Mondays are not my favorite day of the week, was my thought as my secretary came into my office.

“Sir, the two new hires are here. Um…Miss Natalie Roberts and Miss Melissa Worthington.” I winced at her words. My hangover was killing me, and I did not want to deal with new people right now.

“Okay. Lead them to the conference room and tell the rest of the partners. Thank you.” She nodded and left my office.

I groaned. New hires and fresh out of college. And very young, too: twenty-two years old.

Great. How did I let my father talk me into this?

Yes, my father and I owned D’Angelo & Partners law firm—one of the biggest law firms in New York.

I picked up their files and grabbed my coffee, making my way to the conference room. I had a hangover, but I had fun this weekend.

I smiled to myself. No one knew about my secret life, and no one would.

My dad came to the door at the same time as me.

  “Isaac. Are you ready, son?”

I nodded, and he flung the door open. I gave my dad a look as I saw the rest of the partners already there, grilling the new hires with questions.

I noticed the girl with a nice lean body and long black silky hair. Images of that hot girl from the club came to my mind. She was beautiful, and I could honestly say never have I seen a girl like her.

My father and I went around the room to make it to the front of the table and face everyone. I breathed in deeply, and my heart started to pound really quick as I saw the face of the same girl from last night.

It was that hot girl from Studio 69. I intently stared at the new hires to confirm my suspicions. Yeah, it was definitely both of them. Once they made eye contact with me, one looked surprised while the other gasped.

Yeah, they remembered me. I’m royally fucked.

My father was not a stupid man, so I knew he would notice.

“You know my son? Isaac D’Angelo. He’s one of the partners in our law firm and my co-owner of this company.” My dad pointed out with pride in his voice. He was always proud of me. I was the oldest of his children, and while we were born with money and prestige, I had always known I would follow his steps in the law firm. I had a sister, and she was already married with two beautiful kids. Then there was our younger brother who was still in college due to him always changing his mind and choosing different professions. No one really knew what he wanted anymore. He never settled on anything.

“Um, no, sir. I thought I did. He just looked familiar. Sorry. Um, I’m Natalie Roberts, and this is Melissa Worthington.” The hot girl introduced herself and her friend, and I was a little surprised at how quick she recovered from the shock of seeing me.

She finished introductions and stretched her hand to shake my father’s hand and then mine.

I ignored the sparks that were lingering in my hand. They both knew I was a stripper at a gay bar. What they didn’t know was that I wasn’t gay. Well, I’m a bisexual, but I just liked being a male dancer. I could see the blush on Natalie’s cheeks, and she avoided looking at me. She kept answering whatever questions the rest of the partners were asking them. I just kept watching her. For some reason, I couldn’t stop staring at her, and I knew if anyone saw it, they would catch on. I just didn’t know what was happening myself.

So, the meeting went on. My father thought I should show them their offices on the fifth floor. We were on the tenth floor, and as soon as we entered the elevator, I pushed the emergency button so it would stop moving. It was just the three of us. The ladies looked confused, but I didn’t give a shit.

“Let’s get one thing straight, ladies.” I heard a snort. I assumed it’s because I said straight. I glared at Natalie and continued talking.

“You both know what I do on my weekends. Nobody else knows about that, and I like to keep it that way. Understood?” I eyed them both with a sharp stare.

“Well, of course, we won’t say anything. We respect the privacy of others, and you are the boss. Oh my god. Our boss is a stripper!” Melissa chided while rubbing her forehead.

I glared at both of them.

“Don’t talk about it either, or else, invasion of privacy would be the le
ast of your problems.” I snapped at them.

They narrowed their eyes then looked at each other. After having a long silent discussion with their eyes, they both looked my way and sighed in defeat.

“Yes, sir. We won’t tell a soul.” I smiled and was about to thank them when a cellphone went off.

  Natalie sighed before answering.

“What, Jasper? What could you possibly want?” Natalie snapped as she answered the call.

Huge pause. I guessed the guy was talking on the other line. Suddenly, Natalie let out a fake laugh. How did I know she was faking it? I have no idea.

“Right. Um, thank you for wishing me luck and all, but I did mean it. I don’t want to be friends with you. You broke up with me.” Pause. Pause. Pause. Then she scoffed.

“Dude, you don’t deserve this? Let’s talk about that.” She paused for a bit and took a long breath.

“I deserve a better break up, not like how you did it—moving out when I wasn’t there and telling me to end our relationship through the phone. After seven years, you’d think you already know someone…I mean, yes, I know it’s in your nature to be a coward nerd like way back in high school but…” She stopped talking to glare at Melissa who was silently laughing at her. Natalie rolled her eyes and continued.

“I thought we were honest to each other. Do me a favor: Delete my number and forget me. I’m at work right now and not in the mood to listen to your excuses.” She snapped and put her phone back in her purse.

She looked exhausted. I reminisced the girl from the club; she was hot. I never kissed anyone on the lips unless we were a couple, but she caught my attention. That night, I went outside the club to get some air before I did my number. No one recognized me with my normal clothes on, so I was at ease. I was leaning against the wall off to the side of the entrance when I saw a girl talking on her phone. At first, I panicked and was about to move, but then her words went from happy to angry. It made me stop and eavesdrop on her conversation. I didn’t know who Jasper was, but the guy was an ass for doing that to a girl. It didn’t matter if the girl was a crazy person—I didn’t know if Natalie was—but no one deserves that kind of treatment.
